If you go to our Instagram account (again here with @exaeb and @felicia.navarone), you can see that back in 2016 we mainly post food in our feed. Say we are not one of the Instagram foodies who goes viral but know what best to pleased our appetite!
Back to our trip to Bali in 2016 and 2017, we went to several well-known places. Sure there are bunch of good place to pleased your tummy, but here are places we go that we can afford with our piggy bank saving! Enjoy!
Nalu Bowls, Seminyak
Check out their website on www.nalubowls.com as they have numbers of branch around Bali. We went to Seminyak’ branch which located in Drupadi 1 No. 2A for quick after lunch before we catch our flight back to Jakarta. You’ll have to park your car along Legian street or pay Rp 20.000 to the security as there’s parking lot from other restaurant/hostel couple blocks away. Nalu Bowls is on the first floor but you can also have a sit upstairs in Shelter Cafe which offers heavy meals and other beverages.
La Laguna Bali Restaurant & Beach Bar, Canggu
The most hits and instagramable place currently. Because bunch of people went here only for the beach and take pictures, now the staffs will have questioning you at the entrance. We also got mesmerized for its design, ambiance, architecture, but indeed this place does not only mesmerized your eyes but also offers fascinating food and beverage!
Sate Babi Bawah Pohon, Legian
This place been Felicia’s favorite super affordable place to bite pork satay since 19’something! Yes, this place been a while before it became as well-known by the foodies (and sure thing, the price is know twice or more higher than before yet still worth a visit). As its name (in English, satay under the tree LOL), its located in parking area. Local people must know this place and its easily to reach. Sweet, a bit spicy, and rich of spices flavor! They serve it with lontong (rice cake), cayenne pieces, and salt.
Back then in 2014 the place was so small and comfy. They had renovated it become bigger and slightly more modern and kinda crowd for lunch. It offers you diverse kind of food, local Balinese food which always be our favorite, and western food. Alcohol serves here fellas! What makes it special for us (and perhaps other people too) is the view and atmosphere, not to mentioned the food also 4 out of 5! Beware for the peak seasons where sometimes get the crowd just to take instagramable shoot!
Gusto Gelato & Caffé, Kerobokan
It’s a must for Exa to treat Feli an ice-cream and our favorite goes to Gusto Gelato! They have numbers of unique sorbet like turmeric per say. The smallest contains of 2 flavor is only Rp 22.000! Get your choices color matched so it will looks eye-catching for your feed, don’t worry all flavor goes each other well. For the parking lot, they have their own area where you have to pay only Rp 4.000!
Seniman Coffee Studio, Ubud
Unlike other modern coffee shop, here the barista is like professional-coffee-story teller if those words exist. The interior design makes you feels like home, but we found out its interesting to sit on their coffee bar. Watching how they blend and brew the coffee. You can even ask to try or even without asking! If you are truly coffee lover and can taste the difference, they don’t mind to replace it with a new one. Don’t missed their breakfast menu! Skip your hotel’ breakfast and grab one here!
Whale & Co Bali, Seminyak
It’s a small coffee shop which Feli love to grab a quick taro latte or red velvet latte before catching the flight while you can go for their yummy Affogato. The place is quite and interesting. And psstthh you can ask the barista if you can make your own latte. They are freaking friendly!
Warung Babi Guling Pak Dobiel, Nusa Dua
Right after did water sports activities in Tanjung Benoa, we headed here. We are so lucky, the place about to close but still have portion for us to enjoyed. And yes, teh botol or estee is a great accompanied. What makes one babi guling with another (like Bu Oka, Pak Malen, etc) is the portion and taste of the broth and spices. Ubud has Bu Oka as it best (later on as in our preference), Kuta has Pak Malen, Nusa Dua has Pak Dobiel and Bakas. People say “you are not going to Bali if you don’t have yourself babi guling”
Warung Babi Guling Bakas Klungkung, Nusa Dua
Unlike Pak Dobiel’s and other babi guling we visited, here you can get bacon menu, slightly have western touch which so pleasant indeed. It’s located in the left main road if you are heading to Nusa Dua from Kuta. The portion is more than enough for man LOL.
Taco Casa, Kerobokan
Some people might know Motel Mexicola better for Mexican cafe. This Taco Casa might doesn’t look as eye catchy like Motel Mexicola, but if you are looking for a finger licking good burrito, quesadillas, nachos, tacos, then you have to go here. We barely can finish our meals because its too big for us. Its good for family lunch or dinner. And hey, you are not allowed to smoke and they don’t serves beer.
So, how about you? If you have your own preference, let’s share it with us by commenting below! Or, shall we go food hunting together?
